Here is my meal plan and grocery trip from this week. It's late because my dad was in town and I'm just now getting around to it. Oops!
Also, full disclosure, I was a food hoarder. I bought stuff when it was a great deal and it filled my freezer and pantry and I would forget about things. I finally cleaned those both out and threw away (AH!) the stuff that was no good. Now I'm working my way through what I already have in my stock pile so some of these recipes look cheap because I already had most of the ingredients. Also there was a big sale of value packs of chicken, so this week is chicken heavy.
Sunday: Spicy Sausage Pasta with salad - Nathan LOVES this meal! Total for meal: $6.45
- I already had sausage, but I had to buy rotel ($1.00), penne ($1.00), heavy cream ($1.95), and Monterrey cheese ($2.50).
Monday: Roast with mashed potatoes, green beans, and onion casserole Total for meal: $2.49
- I already had the roast from a BOGO a few weeks ago and green beans and potatoes. All I had to buy was onions ($2.49) and I only used three onions out of the bag!
Tuesday: Meatball subs with fries Total for meal: $0
- I already had everything in the freezer for a quick meal on a night I didn't feel like cooking!
Wednesday: Brunswick Chicken Bake Total for meal: $10.03
- I had to buy pretty much everything! Chicken (on mega sale! $2.96), lima beans ($1.67), gumbo mix ($1.67), hash browns ($2.49), dry Italian dressing ($1.24). This is a new recipe for me.
Thursday: We are eating with our small group at church
Friday: Chicken Bog Total for meal: $10.94
- I had a lot of these ingredients too, but bought chicken ($2.96), and broth ($7.98) This is a new recipe for me.
Saturday: Chicken Rice Casserole
- I only had to buy chicken ($2.96)
I also stocked up on a few staples and some sale items that got me: milk, spaghetti noodles, ground sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, brown and white sugar, veggies. Total at the store: $109.22
